HOW TO USE Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense informs the activity / ies which completely happened in the past when another activity / ies happened in the past.

PATTERN

Subject + had + Past Participle (V3) + Object + Past Tense


@ Positive Sentences

- I had met the lecturer when she came.
- You had met the lecturer when she came.
- We had met the lecturer when you came.
- They had met the lecturer when I came.
- She had met the lecturer when my brother came.
- He had met the lecturer when I came.
- Andira had met the lecturer when Yudi came.
- Suli and Iwan had met the lecturer when Salim and Zul came.


@ Negative Sentences.

- I hadn't met the lecturer when she came.
- You hadn't met the lecturer when she came.
- We hadn't met the lecturr when you came.
- They hadn't met the lecturer when I came.
- She hadn't met the lecturer when my brother came.
- He hadn't met the lecturer when I came.
- Andira hadn't met the lecturer when Yudi came.
- Suli and Iwan hadn't met the lecturer when Salim and Zul came.

Note : hadn't = had not


@ Passive Voice

Pattern : Object + had + been + past participle (V3) + Past Tense.

- The letter had been sent to him when you wanted to check it.


@ Interrogative Sentence

- Had you sent the letter when he came?
- Yes, I had OR
- No, I hadn't
