Gerund ialah bentung ING dari kata kerja yang digunakan sebagai kata benda, misalnya sebagai subyek atau obyek.
- Playing soccer is fun. (playing disini sebagai gerund). Itu digunakan sebagai subyek dari kalimat. Playing soccer ialah sebagai frase dari gerund.
- They enjoy playing soccer. (playinh disini.berfungsi sebagai object daribkata kerja enjoy.

1) Sebagai Subyek
Mudahnya kita katakan bila kata kerja berada di depan kalimat.

2. Sebagai pelengkap,
Atau mudahnya dikatakan bila dalam bahasa Indonesia diperlukan kata "adalah".
